Hi everyone,

I'm trying to identify a music piece that is played in the movie
"Caveman", starring Ringo Starr, Dennis Quaid, Shelley Long, etc.

The "song" is played when Atouk (Ringo Starr) and his misfit tribesmen
are marching carrying a big pterodactyl egg over their shoulders.

You can briefly hear the "song" that I mean on the movie trailer here:

after the trailer narrator says: "He will invent roast chicken" and
just before he says "and fried eggs". The "song" that sounds like it
is been whistled.

Thanks. Any help will be appreciated.

Colonel Bogey march (see also the movie Bridge on the River Kwai).

The whistling is scored in the original march, by the way.

By Kenneth Alford (the British 'Sousa')

That is the "Colonel Bogey March," a 1914 composition credited to
Kenneth Alford, which is actually a pseudonym of a certain Lt. F. J.
Ricketts.

The tune gained its greatest exposure when it was used by Malcolm
Arnold in the 1957 film "Bridge on the River Kwai." Ever since then,
when someone wants to refer light-heartedly to an undertaking
involving considerable effort or teamwork, the "Alford" march is wont
to pop up in the background. (The Parent Trap, Spaceballs, Geisha Boy,
The Breakfast Club, etc.)

Perhaps you're too young for this, but there was a playground song in
the 1960's that was based on the Col. Bogey March, and I still
remember the lyrics to this day:

"Comet, it makes your mouth turn green,
Comet, it tastes like gasoline,
Comet, it makes you vomit,
So buy some Comet, and vomit today."

Hardly in the same league as Cole Porter, but diverting enough for 6
and 7 year olds attempting to make mischief.

I hear a snippet of "Bridge over River Kwai" in there.
